Dr. Houshang Makipour established the practice in Woodbridge, Virginia in 1987. He welcomed his associate, Dr. Kian Makipour in 2013. Dr. Alexandra Modiri, the premier female gastroenterologist in Northern Virginia, joined the practice in 2017. All of our physicians specialize in gastroenterology and are board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Dr. Modiri is also board certified in Obesity Medicine and practices medical weight loss. 

Our doctors specialize in general gastroenterology with a special interest in colon cancer screening, IBS, acid reflux, heartburn, medical weight loss and gastrointestinal health / wellness.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality gastroenterology care. We are dedicated to our patients and the practice is patient-centered. Our in office endoscopy suite, Northern Virginia Endoscopy Center LLC, is fully accredited by Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). We utilize the latest technology and our suite meets the highest standards set by AAAHC. Our doctors have been recognized as Top Doctors in Northern Virginia Magazine and Washingtonian Magazine. 

Our adenoma detection rate (ADR) in 2024 is 56% compared to the national benchmark of 25%. Amongst women, our ADR is 51% compared to the national benchmark of 20%. Amongst men, our ADR is 61% compared to the national benchmark of 30%.
