Food Allergies

Certain food allergies (wheat, soy, eggs, nuts, shellfish and milk protein) can result in difficulty swallowing and affect the health of your esophagus. This condition is called Eosinophilic Esophagitis and is diagnosed during an endoscopy by obtain biopsies of the proximal and distal esophagus. This condition has become more widespread, probably due to a combination of increased food allergies in the general population and increased testing.
